History

The Diaper Bank movement began in 1994 in Tucson, AZ, when a small consulting firm wanted to give back to their
local community during the holiday season. They began the philantrophic endeavor by collecting and donating diapers
for families in crisis.

In 2003, located in Southern Arizona, the nation’s first free standing Charitable Diaper Bank opened its doors.
Just one year later in 2004, using the model of Southern Arizona, New Haven Diaper Bank was organized and began
operating in New Haven, Connecticut.

Today, there are more than 250 Diaper Banks across the country.
